Step 1: Check requirements

Please ensure you meet all the requirements before applying for Social Media Marketing & Management. To all applicants with an international degree: please apply for a recognition of your certificates from Studienkolleg Konstanz as soon as possible.

Step 2: Download and fill out the application form

The application form collects relevant personal information and includes questions for you to complete about your skills, experience, and ambitions. Please provide your reasons for choosing this course, any relevant previous experience, and your career plans. Be sure to answer all questions truthfully.

The new application form can be downloaded here in 2026. 

 

Step 3: Submit your application form

When you have completed your application form, please upload it along with the required documents:

  • If you have already finished school, upload your school leaving certificate. If you have an international degree, please upload both your certificate and its recognition.

  • If you are still attending school, upload your latest report card showing your current grade and expected graduation date.

 

Please make sure that you name your documents in the following way:

  • Application form: last name_first name_application2025
  • School document: last name_first name_school2025

 

Please submit your documents only once. You will not receive a confirmation email after uploading, but a message will appear on the screen confirming which files were successfully uploaded. If you do not see an error message, your upload was successful.

Important: Please upload only the required files: the application form and either your school leaving certificate or your latest report card. Applicants with an international degree must also upload the recognition of their school leaving certificate.

 

The upload button will be available here during the next application period.

 

Step 4: Take the English language test

After evaluating the submitted application documents, we will invite the best candidates to the second selection round, which includes an English language test and an interview. If you are selected, you will receive an email with all the details regarding the test and interview. Both will be conducted online, so please ensure you have a computer, headphones, and a reliable internet connection.


Step 5: Take part in the interview

Candidates with a B2 level of English or higher are eligible to participate in the interview. The interview is an opportunity for you to learn more about us and ask any questions about the program. During the interview, we will focus on your motivation to study Social Media Marketing & Management as well as your personal background. The interview will last approximately 10-15 minutes and will be conducted via Zoom.

After the interview, you will be issued a certificate indicating your overall grade on the entrance exam. The entrance exam accounts for 70 % of your final score, while your school leaving grade contributes 30 %.

 

Step 6: Apply

Important: Please apply only if you have successfully passed our entrance exam. If you have not taken the exam or did not pass, kindly refrain from submitting your application documents through HdM’s application portal. Detailed instructions on how to apply can be found below.

 

Deadlines for submitting all required application documents through HdM's application portal:

  • Entrance Exam 1: June 10, 2025 (school leaving certificates and recognitions of certificates can be uploaded until July 15, 2025)
  • Entrance Exam 2: July 15, 2025

 

To submit your application documents, please follow these five steps:

1. Register:

You need to register on two platforms:

 

Start by registering on hochschulstart.de. You will receive two important numbers:

  • BID (Applicant ID)

  • BAN (Authentication Number)
    You will need these later for your application.

 

Next, register on the HdM application portal.
If you're not currently an HdM student, use the link above.
If you're already an HdM student, log in via the student portal, then go to "My Applications" to begin.

 

2. Apply:

Apply via the HdM application portal.

After registering on both hochschulstart.de and the HdM portal, you can apply for a Bachelor's program.

  • You will need your BID and BAN from hochschulstart.de.

  • You may apply for up to three different Bachelor’s programs at HdM.

  • Exception: If applying for a second degree or a higher semester, you can apply for only one program.

Fill in all required information and upload the necessary documents through the portal. You need the certificate showing the results of the entrance exam as well as your school leaving certificate. If you have a foreign qualification, please check the requirements section.

 

3. Prioritize:

Set your application priorities on hochschulstart.de.

  • Rank your study programs from most to least preferred.

  • You can only receive one admission offer at a timeIf you receive multiple offers, only the one with the highest priority remains valid (lower-priority offers will expire).

  • It is essential that you rank our study program as your highest priority, otherwise it may be automatically withdrawn in favor of a higher-ranked choice. 

 

4. Wait for Admission Offer:

Monitor your status on hochschulstart.de.

After the application deadline, the university will review your documents. If you receive an admission offer, hochschulstart.de will notify you by email.

  • If you get multiple offers, only the one with the highest priority will be valid.

  • Check your status anytime on hochschulstart.de.

 

5. Enroll (and upload additional documents if required):

Complete your enrollment via the HdM application portal.

If you receive and accept an offer on hochschulstart.de:

  • You will get an official admission letter from HdM (also on hochschulstart.de).

  • This letter will provide instructions on how to finalize your enrollment (immatriculation).

  • Follow the instructions carefully and upload any additional required documents.
