If you want to apply to Hochschule der Medien as an international applicant, there are a couple of things you need to consider.

If you obtained your University Entry Qualification in a country other than Germany, you will need to have this qualification recognised.

Furthermore, if you are a non-native speaker, you will need to submit a German language certificate as part of your application.

Recognition of international Higher Education Entry Qualifications/ School Leaving Certificates

All international applicants to Hochschule der Medien have to have their Higher Education Entry Qualification/ School Leaving Certificate recognized by the Center for International Students in Constance (https://www.htwg-konstanz.de/en/academics/center-for-international-students/application/application-in-two-steps/).

If your qualification is recognized, the Studienkolleg will issue you with a certificate matching your original grade onto the German grading scale. You have to submit this document with your application, alongside a copy of your original certificate.

The validation of your certificate at the Studienkolleg is free of charge.

IMPORTANT:

In order to have your qualification recognized, the Studienkolleg requires the following documents:

- A certified copy of your Higher Education Entry Qualification

- A full list of subject grades

- Certificate of German language proficiency (see list – this can be submitted later)

- CV/ data sheet outlining your education history

All photocopies must be authenticated by German authorities (you can do this in your local town hall or at your university). Authenticated documents have an official stamp on each page, and a signature.

Please note that the recognition of your qualifications will take some time (2-3 weeks) – and you have to plan your application process accordingly.

Requests for recognition of Higher Education Entry Qualification will have to reach the  Studienkolleg Konstanz by:

1. May for the application for courses starting in the winter semester

1. November for the application for courses starting in the summer semester

It is possible that the Studienkolleg comes to the conclusion that your current qualification does not prepare you sufficiently for studying your chosen degree course. In this case, you will be invited to attend a one-year-long preparatory course at the Studienkolleg. The results from your final examinations at the end of this course will determine whether you can be admitted to study at a University of Applied Science in Baden-Württemberg.

German Language Skills

All Bachelor and Master programmes at Hochschule der Medien are taught in German (unless otherwise stated/ with the exception of Print Media Technologies). In order to succeed academically and participate fully in your chosen degree course, you will need good German language skills.

As part of the admission process, you must provide evidence that you can use German well enough to study effectively at Hochschule Medien.

We accept as range of language qualifications and certificates as proof of your German proficiency, for example:

- TestDaF 4 (minimum of 16 points, with at least 4 points in every sub-category)
